A system approach to insulation

Living in Scandinavia requires adapting to changing seasons and varying weather conditions. Combined with today’s increasingly unpredictable climate and rapid temperature shifts, this creates new challenges in how we dress for everyday life.

We therefore offer a system of garments that allows you to easily adapt to current conditions—without compromising on comfort, feel, or style. With our LightMediumHeavy system, it’s simple and intuitive to choose the right level of insulation for the prevailing weather and temperature.

“Insulation isn’t about just adding layers. It’s about knowing when, where and how the body needs protection.”

TENYL™ Our own fabric

TENYL™ is BelowTen’s proprietary fabric, developed specifically for our insulation system.

It is a mono-material nylon fabric made from 100% recyclable nylon, a tight construction with textured fine yarns, chosen for durability, structure and long-term performance. By working with one primary material, we reduce complexity in construction while gaining full control over how the garment behaves over time.

TENYL™ is developed and produced in South Korea, in close collaboration with specialised manufacturing partners with deep experience in technical garments.

Mono-material construction

Our garments are designed as mono-material systems wherever possible.

Using one primary material reduces material waste during production and simplifies recycling at end of life. It also requires greater precision in design, where performance must come from construction rather than added layers.

Mono-material construction is not a feature. It is a design decision.

Free Filling insulation

BelowTen uses a free filling approach to insulation.

The insulation consists of 100% recycled polyester from Freudenberg and is applied with precision rather than fixed through traditional quilting. This allows the filling to move naturally within the garment, creating more even thermal performance, improved mobility and a lighter feel.

Free filling is central to how our garments adapt to movement, pauses and temperature changes throughout the day.
